Empowering Rural Youth through Renewable Energy Training
Christianah Afolabi works as Energy Access Lead for Renergy Integrated Systems and Projects. She got the job after undergoing a three-month intensive training on Renewable Energy, organized by the IFAD Agrihub Renewable Energy and Ashdam Solar Academy.
The training is designed to equip rural youth with the knowledge and resources necessary for crafting employment opportunities.
Afolabi recounts that she was among 30 youths who went through intensive training in solar energy technology, installation, and maintenance.
She said: “This training provided me with invaluable opportunities to acquire practical experience. The modules on load rating, panel maintenance, and solar installation significantly eased my transition into my new position, making it both satisfying and rewarding.”
“It was a thrilling and fulfilling experience because everyone displayed commitment and zeal all through the training. And thankfully, we secured immediate employment after the training.”
